April is free Playstation plus games line-up has been officially announced. We already knew Oddworld: Soulstorm would be on the reel for PS5, but what else can subscribers look forward to?
Well, on PS4 we have a rather surprising zombie theme. Days Gone, Sony Bend’s open-world adventure, is up for grabs alongside solid cooperative survival shooter Zombie Army 4: Dead War. Two very good games, but there will no doubt be a bit of a problem with the inclusion of Days Gone, which is already one of the PS Plus Collection games on PS5.
While we have yet to review Oddworld: Soulstorm – keep that in mind – we recommend the two other titles. In our Days Gone PS4 Reviewwe described the game as ‘comfort food in the open world’:
Days Gone’s survival horror underbelly gives it just enough personality to distance it from the dozens of other open worlds already available. A dense selection of overlapping gameplay mechanics makes for entertaining action, even if the title’s unobtrusive mission design doesn’t always make the most of it. The story may differ, and the overall package isn’t quite as polished as its PS4-exclusive counterparts – but as far as gaming comfort food goes, you can indulge in much worse snacks than this.
And we were equally praised for “Rebellion’s Best Game Yet”, which we awarded an 8/10 in our Zombie Army 4: Dead War PS4 Review
Zombie Army 4: Dead War is one of the best cooperative games on PS4. The meaty campaign features an impressive variety of levels, excellent controls and enjoyable gameplay mechanics, while a Horde mode will test your skills to the max. Rebellion has created an experience with so much to see and do that it can take a group of players weeks to master – a pinnacle of success for these types of games. Zombie Army 4: Dead War is an absolute riot of a title that’s as brutal as it is fun to play.
