San Diego Comic-Con Announces Dates for November 2021 Convention

San Diego Comic-Con is somehow taking place this year. Despite Comic-Con International formally canceling the traditional summer convention earlier this year, the outfit has announced the dates for a smaller convention it plans to host later this year. According to a new press release circulated by the Comic-Con organizers, San Diego Comic-Con will now take place at the San Diego Convention Center over Thanksgiving weekend. Rather than a week-long event, this year’s San Diego Comic-Con will be an intimate three-day affair, running from Friday, November 26 to Sunday, November 28.

The company is calling this year’s convention “Comic-Con Special Edition,” and the cost of badges, attendee capacity, and “related information” has yet to be decided by convention center organizers and officials.

“While we’ve been able to move from in-person meetings to limited online events, the loss of revenue has had an acute impact on the organization, as with many small businesses. Other issues,” Comic-Con spokesperson David Glanzer said in a release that was distributed throughout the outfit. “Hopefully this event will bolster our financial reserves and mark a slow return to larger in-person meetings in 2022.”

Like almost every other convention in 2020, Comic-Con was canceled due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. With vaccines becoming readily available in the United States, the country is slowly starting to reopen with social events. In the past month, both New York and California – two of the last remnants in the country – have begun to reopen their limited-capacity cinemas.

“Southern California, you’ll benefit from this,” California Governor Gavin Newsom said earlier of the theater situation. In particular, LA will be a big beneficiary of this new benchmark that is likely to be reached Friday. And as you move into the following week through the weekend, you’ll see more activity, more relaxation of the levels. That’s encouraging and I hope people will be excited about what this means moving forward as we have a range of other barriers and other goals that will allow us to move forward with more clarity, more conviction and more confidence as we go through the next. several weeks and the coming months. “
