The co-director of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Eduardo Fuentes, reported this Friday that they have received more than 150 challenges to date from candidates from the various political party movements that have undergone internal elections.
The Libertad y Refundación (Free) Party and the Liberal Party are the ones who have presented the most inconsistencies in completing the minutes of each polling station.
The CNE reported that 17 percent of the minutes show some inconsistency and that they will make a decision to issue a final statement by April 13.
“The electoral process continues, we keep working, we keep facing challenges. So far, more than 150 challenges have been received from the candidates of the three political parties, from the 14 legally registered movements,” he said.
“All of these challenges are being received because the movements believe there is a complaint and they are being resolved within the timeframe set in the law, which is 10 days,” he said.
He said that from this day on, these minutes will receive a special investigation, the process will be made public, with the media, members of civil society acting as observers of this process, to ensure that the popular will is respected the polls, ”he said.
The final declaration of the internal elections will take place on April 15, with verification of the disputed minutes.
