The first weekend of dance clubs and bars is completely open without restrictions.
“Get out early, we’ve been doing things all day,” says one clerk.
Events pop up to celebrate, some with a clear message. An event called “F COVID” being held in Paris in Scottsdale has a flyer that says no masks, no social aloofness and full capacity. People were queuing there at 6:30 PM on Friday evening.
“Being out, being with people, partying and no masks,” says another club attendee.
People who get a booth or table are allowed to dance with their groups. The promoter who organizes the weekend event, Luciano Cota, says it has been a long time.
“For you, that our own government opens the city and allows us to do what we do, which is to bring people together, give people a good time and a party. You know, work for a week and then you can finally go back to a completely open club we haven’t had that in over a year, and that probably hyped us to go that way, go that way, ”said Luciano Cota, Surge Nights, event management.
Cota says an event he has for Sunday has already sold out. That forces many people to plan their weekend plans early.
“Excitement, relief, especially when it comes to mental health and being social again, interacting with people and getting back to normal, like life,” said Paris Prynkiewicz, resident of Scottsdale.
Richard Schmitz says he recently moved to Scottsdale, this will be the first time it has been fully open.
“I can’t wait to go out, see my friends go to some new places, watch the scene and get back to living my life, it’s been a year,” said Richard Schmitz, a Scottsdale resident.
Even though people are celebrating, a few will still join in, but take precautions.
“I think it’s up to the people. There are people who believe in COVID, but there are also those who don’t,” says Cota.
