A new Nintendo Switch Pro rumor has surfaced online, days after the Nintendo Switch Pro controller seemingly leaked. Sadly, the rumor isn’t packed with the most salient information, but it does reference the console’s release date and provides insight into how to deal with older games. Rumors of an improved and more powerful Nintendo Switch have been circulating for over a year now, but recently the rumors and reports have increased significantly, suggesting that we are getting closer to a reveal and release.
The latter comes down the road from one of the first sources to get word of the machine, or, more specifically, industry insider NateDrake’s way out. According to the leaker, the console will be announced this year and it is currently planned to also release it this year, but a postponement to 2022 is certainly a possibility at the moment.
Sadly, the leaker doesn’t provide additional details on when the console will be released, but it sounds like it will be sometime this holiday season, assuming it won’t be delayed until next year.
In addition to hinting at the release date, the leaker also claims that the console’s new SoC should boost older games in the form of an increase in resolution and fps. However, it sounds like there could be exceptions to this rule depending on how the game is coded.
Finally, the NateDrake comments on the Nintendo Switch Pro’s DLSS support rumors, noting that they’ve only heard that this support only includes docked mode. However, the insider is not ready to dismiss portable DLSS, citing a lack of confirmation in either case.
Of course, as with every little bit, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt. Not only is everything 100 percent unofficial here, but it’s also subject to change. All of this could be completely accurate today, and tomorrow it could all be outdated and incorrect information.
As you might expect, Nintendo has not commented on this unofficial information, nor has it responded directly to a single Nintendo Switch Pro rumor, report or leak. That said, if Nintendo breaks this pattern of silence without comment, we’ll be sure to update the story accordingly.
