Jenner posted a statement to her Instagram stories on Monday, writing, “I think it’s important for me to clean up this false story that I’ve been asking fans for money and not paying for my makeup artist’s medical bills.”
“Sam is not my makeup artist and unfortunately we no longer have a personal relationship, but I worked with him a few years ago and think he is the sweetest,” the statement said. “I saw my current makeup artist and friend Ariel post about Sam’s accident and his family’s GoFundMe and I immediately called Ariel to see what had happened to Sam.”
GoFundMe’s original goal was $ 10,000, after which Jenner donated $ 5,000, a source close to Jenner previously noted to CNN. An account under Jenner’s name on GoFundMe shows a donation of $ 5,000.
Jenner also said that in her statement: “They had already raised 6k so I put it in 5k to achieve their original goal and thought I would post on my stories to get more exposure if anyone felt compelled to (to) to share or donate. “
“I don’t know how all this got so twisted, but his family has reached out through Ariel and is very grateful for all the donations, prayers and love for Sam,” the statement said. “Anyone who knows me knows that I do things from my heart and I try to be helpful whenever I can. Let’s all stay positive and keep Sam, his family, and everyone you know who goes through a difficult time in our prayers. “
CNN had contacted Jenner’s representatives before posting her statement.
