The New York Mets appear ready to hit the $ 300 million mark to tie Puerto Rican shortstop Francisco Lindor to a multi-year deal.
At least that’s what MLB Network journalist Jon Heyman said, who reported on his Twitter account that a source assured him.
If true, the Mets seem determined to preserve the valuable siore, which Cleveland owner Paul Dolan said was too expensive for the Indians’ franchise. It is alleged that at one point the Indians made a $ 200 million offer to the Cagueño.

Lindor confirmed on Saturday that he and his representatives are already in talks. And they would be under pressure to finalize an agreement in less than two weeks as the Puerto Rican has said he would not negotiate once the 2021 MLB season kicks off April 1. .

The Mets got Lindor in a trade with Cleveland in January, and he received a $ 22.3 million contract this season. He has said his goal is a multi-year deal in excess of $ 300 million.
It’s unclear how Lindor will respond, Heyman said, but he said the fact that the Mets are willing to hit that number is a source of optimism.
