Mexico City
Unbelievable, but that’s how it happened, one woman thought she was actually talking to the singer Bruno Mars who, in addition to asking for money and even marriage, was unfortunately only defrauded by a man who was impersonating the musician’s identity.
It all happened in Texas, as reported by CBS 11 News, but the identity of the con-woman named Jane was not disclosed.
It all started in 2018, when Jane was dealing with the recent loss of her husbandSocial networks became one of his rescues and there found the company that softened his feelings of sadness and loneliness thanks to conversations with people from different parts of the country.
One day he received a message with the famous song from Bruno Mars “Marry You”. When Jane inquired about his profile, she realized he had pictures of the artist and that his name was the same, so she assumed that whoever contacted him it was the singer himself.
The friendship grew and Jane became more confident, until it assumed Bruno Mars asked for help. Apparently he had gone unpaid for the cars he had been use during its last tour and urgently needed $ 5,000.
Later, the scammer asked for more money to pay for his tour, so the woman ended up sending him $ 90,000.
He even proposed to her
Plus, the fake Mars sent her an engagement ring while she was building a recording studio in her garage.
But have they never met before?
Right on the day he would show up there to get the money he needed, it was some of the men who did it in his place. They explained that the singer had been detained by the police and that he could not keep his appointment. They even showed him Photoshopped photos to prove it.
Although the bad joke went on for several months, it wouldn’t be forever because if things didn’t start to add up for the woman, she was threatened.
“They threatened to poison and kill me if I didn’t get them the money. That’s how it came to an end, ”she says of when she demanded that they pay her back. Eventually, the case came into the hands of the local police who found guilt on two Nigerian nationals.
