Former President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he is “not a fan” of Meghan Markle, but hopes she launches her rumored 2024 presidential run.
Trump was asked in a Fox News interview with Maria Bartiromo about a possible candidacy by Prince Harry’s American husband, following their blockbuster interview with Oprah Winfrey.
“Well, I hope it does, because if it does, I think I would have an even stronger feeling to run,” Trump said.
‘I’m not a fan of hers. I think what she says about the royal family and the queen – I just happen to think, I know the queen, as you know. I have met the Queen and I think the Queen is a great person. And I am not a fan of Meghan. “
Markle, 39, is reportedly networking with Democrats looking at her own potential path to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave after an interview with Oprah on CBS in which she claimed the royal family was unsupportive and racist.
Trump said during the TV interview that he will decide on a presidential run after the 2022 midterm elections. “Honestly, we’ll make our decision after that,” he said.
Markle opposed Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and appeared to be backing Biden in a campaign video featuring her husband.
In response, Trump said during a coronavirus briefing at the White House, “I wish Harry the best of luck because he will need it”,
Trump previously sided with Queen Elizabeth II during the so-called # Megxit family split.
