The Giants seize a chance at John Ross in NFL free agency.
Ross, 25, received a one-year $ 2.5 million proof-it deal, including $ 1 million in guaranteed money, according to NFL Network. This is a total projection based on the Giants’ talent. Ross was the # 9 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and never got close to that lofty draft status.
In four years, he played in just 27 games and has just 51 receptions for 733 yards and 10 touchdowns. He is best known for his record at 4.22 in the 40-yard dashboard of the 2017 NFL scouting combination, breaking a record.
In 2020, Ross played in just three games. He was placed on the COVID-19 list when he left the team to be with his son, who contracted the virus, and later ended up on the injured reserve with a foot problem.
Ross will join a host corps led by Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard. The Giants previously released this offseason veteran Golden Tate after two disappointing years.
The Giants cleared cap space on Tuesday by signing Leonard Williams to a $ 63 million three-year deal, getting rid of the franchise and giving the team an additional $ 8 million to spend off-season.
