These peeled Pokemon designs are horrifying

Since the franchise’s inception, Pokemon fans have been sharing their own personal take on the creatures, but peeled Pokemon may just be the most disturbing version ever! The @peeled_pokemon account on Twitter has gone through every Pokemon in the franchise, with some details removed with Paint Tool Sai 2. According to Kotaku, the designs started out as a joke between friends, but the account was quickly blown up on the social media platform; @peeled_pokemon started tweeting in January 2020 and has over 66,000 followers at the time of writing. Obviously, the designs have struck a chord with many Pokemon fans!

At this point, the account has now shared images of the first 452 Pokemon with details removed. That puts them in Gen IV territory, which seems quite appropriate given all the recent Pokemon Diamond and Pearl news! The peeled Pokemon designs are all posted according to their official Pokedex order, so most diehard fans won’t have too much trouble identifying them (the numbers are in each Tweet, but the names aren’t). However, for casual fans, some are a little easier to identify than others! An example of the @ peeled_pokemon account can be found below.

It’s interesting to see how fans have responded to these posts and how much the account has won over the past year. It’s a testament to the franchise’s popularity, and it also showcases the different ways in which Pokemon continues to inspire fans’ creativity. Over the past 25 years, Pokemon fans have found many creative outlets through the franchise, and these peeled Pokemon designs are no exception. It’s unclear if the person running the account will end up offering peeled versions of every Pokemon in the franchise, but as the account creator is halfway through, it seems like a clear possibility!
