Ex-White House COVID adviser Deborah Birx has a new job in the private sector

Former White House COVID-19 Coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx now works in the private sector.

Birx, who was a familiar face during White House coronavirus briefings under former President Donald Trump, now works as chief medical and scientific advisor to ActivePure Technology in Texas, an air filtration company, Reuters reported.

She also joined the George W. Bush Institute as a global health fellow and the biopharmaceutical company Innoviva as a board member, she told Reuters.

Birx announced her retirement late last year after being knocked down for gathering with three generations of her own family after Thanksgiving – while warning Americans to avoid groups outside their “immediate households” during the holiday season.

She officially left the federal government this week, she said.

Biden’s administration wanted a clean slate. I totally understand that, ”Birx told Reuters in an interview, adding that she regrets her role in the pandemic response.

“I’m trying to rank them,” she said of her regret. “We have to be willing to step back and really analyze where we could have been and why we weren’t more effective.

“When you have the 100,000 people we lost in the summer, and the 300,000 people we lost in the fall-winter wave, you have to ask yourself and know that it didn’t go as well as it should.”
