“To even consider doing any kind of lockdown is frankly insane,” DeSantis said at a Florida news conference, praising the state’s efforts to administer vaccines to the elderly and other populations.
“That is not going to happen in the state of Florida,” the governor continued, referring to the restriction being reinstated. “We’ll keep doing what works, but under no circumstances would we like something like this.”
Biden has repeatedly vowed not to lock up the country, but warned Thursday night in a prime-time address that some restrictions may need to be reconsidered if current downward trends change and the virus resurfaces.
However, he stressed that his government is focused on helping the nation return to normal.
“Even if we do everything possible, beating this virus and getting the virus back to normal depends on national unity,” Biden said. And national unity is not just how politicians and politicians in Washington vote, what the loudest voices say over cable or online. Unity is what we do as fellow Americans. Because if we don’t say vigilant and the circumstances change, we may need to fix the constraints to get back on track. “
“And please, we don’t want to do that again,” he added.
Biden spent much of his speech discussing the government’s drive to increase production and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines and his newly signed $ 1.9 trillion emergency relief bill.
“Biden said last night that they may need to impose more lockdown-type policies in the future. I can tell you that won’t happen in Florida. We’re not going to allow him to lock up Florida,” DeSantis promised Friday.
