Prince Charles reportedly wanted to give a point-by-point rebuttal to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell tell-all with Oprah Winfrey – but the royals decided not to go in a “tit-for-tat”.
The Prince of Wales is upset by Harry’s comments during the interview in which he claimed his father stopped his calls in the run-up to Megxit, the Sun reported.
And Charles, 72, is also reportedly “deeply” concerned about the claim that the royal family had talked about “how dark” the skin of the couple’s son Archie would be when he was born.
“There were several reactions when the palace was figuring out what to do,” a source told the sun. First, to take the Queen’s mind, to make the silent statement saying we’re not happy to hear that they were unhappy.
“But Prince Charles wanted to refute the allegations made point by point,” the source said, adding that the royal family had decided against this.
In her 64-word statement, the Queen said: “The whole family is sad to hear how challenging the past few years have been for Harry and Meghan.
“The issues raised, especially those of race, are worrying. While some memories may differ, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed privately by the family, ”she added.
Charles was caught in an awkward place this week on a tour of a COVID-19 vaccine distribution site, where he was asked if he had seen the interview and, if so, what he thought of it.
The royal family just chuckled and walked out of the facility.
In the conversation with Oprah, Harry claimed that his father had stopped taking his calls for a while.
“While we were in Canada, I had three conversations with my grandmother and two conversations with my father before he stopped taking my calls,” said the 36-year-old.
“At that moment I took matters into my own hands. I have to do this for my family. I have to do something for my own sanity, for my wife’s and for Archie, ”he added.
