America Ferrera is confirmed to return in the Superstore series finale with the first photo of her character Amy returning to Cloud 9
After her emotional airing to California at the start of the sixth and final season, America Ferrera’s Amy returns to the Superstore for the final episode.
NBC confirmed Ferrerra’s return on Wednesday by sharing a first photo of the 36-year-old actress returning to Cloud 9.
The 36-year-old actress also shared the first photo on her Instagram, revealing how excited she was to return to the much-loved comedy series.

‘Surprise! Amy is back! So happy to play with my @ nbcsuperstore family for the big series finale, ‘Ferrera began.
‘It was a joyous and bittersweet goodbye that we can’t wait to share with our amazing fans,’ she added.
The first photo showed Amy trying on a blue Cloud 9 vest, indicating that she’s going back to work, at least for now.

Ferrera’s character Amy Sosa, a manager at Cloud 9, had been there from the start, starring in the first five seasons before announcing her surprise departure in February 2020, just days after the show renewed for the sixth season .
“The past five years at Superstore have been some of the most rewarding, enriching and enjoyable years of my career,” the actress said in a statement.
‘Producing, directing and acting with this great cast and crew has given me opportunities to grow as a person and a storyteller. I am so grateful to my partners at NBC and Universal Television for the support and faith they have always put on the show, and I am deeply grateful to the brilliant Justin Spitzer for creating the funny, smart and relevant world of Superstore and the inviting me to be a part of it, ‘she added.

“As I begin the next chapter for my family and career, I wish my beloved Superstore family only the best and much continued success,” she concluded.
NBC then announced in December that Superstore’s current sixth season would be its last, revealing in February that the one-hour finale will air on March 25.
The beloved series follows the diverse group of employees of the Cloud 9 Superstore and explores the country’s most current issues, including health care, immigration, unionization, the plight of the store employee and much more.

Since leaving the sitcom, Ferrera has turned her attention to directing after taking the helm for the first time in four episodes of Superstore.
She recently directed two episodes of Netflix’s Gentefied in the first season, while also directing two more episodes in season 2.
It was also announced in February that she will be making her feature film debut with I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter for Netflix.
