There is no doubt that David Ortíz’s figure is great in the Dominican Republic, Boston and all over MLB, considered one of the most charismatic players we’ve seen on a field, in addition to standing out as a legendary batter, milestones, heroic accomplishments and a clear future Hall of Fame member.
For his son, D’Angelo Ortíz, who is 16 years old, his father’s accomplishments and life in his shadow are not something that discourages him from pursuing his dream of becoming a Major League player in the future. but rather they feed him his hunger. to achieve and even overcome what his father did, as “Big Papi’s son” only motivates him more, he told MLB.com’s Ian Browne.
It’s great to have him (Big Papi) as a teacher. I would never use it as an excuse. I love the pressure that butterflies feel in my stomach and feel like people don’t expect me to follow exactly in their footsteps, but walk on it and get mine. It’s something I love.
Currently, D’Angelo plays at Westminster Christian School in South Florida, the same school that Alex Rodríguez and other major leagues like Doug Mientkiewicz, JP Arencibia, Dan Perkins and Mickey López came from, and hopes to write his own success story.
At the age of 16, he is already over six feet tall and weighs nearly 100 kilograms, with a firm complexion but slightly more athletic than his father’s, with a swing very reminiscent of Big Papi.
