It’s the second day in a row with just a single fatality, but Utah’s total inches are closer to 2,000.

For the second day in a row, the Utah Department of Health reported just one death from COVID-19 in the state.
The state also reported just 259 new coronavirus cases, the lowest in six months. But the number of tests on Sunday was also low (only about 5,500), as was the number of people receiving vaccine doses (just over 2,000).
The number of COVID-19 cases in Utah has passed 375,000 and the number of Utahns fully vaccinated is now over 310,000.

Cases reported in the past day • 259.
Deaths reported in the past day • One, a Washington County man between the ages of 65 and 84.
Hospital admissions reported in the past day • 193. That’s two more than Sunday. Of those currently hospitalized, 73 are in intensive care units – unchanged from Sunday.
Tests reported in the past day • 3,083 people were first tested. A total of 5,530 people were tested.
Percentage of positive tests • According to the state’s original method, the rate is 8.4%. That is slightly lower than the seven-day average of 9.06%.
The new method counts all test results, including repeated tests from the same person. Monday’s rate now stands at 4.7%, slightly higher than the seven-day average of 4.38%.
