Here, eligible Utahns can get COVID-19 vaccination appointments

Another 700,000 Utahns were eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine Monday – the first day, officially, people 50 and older could sign up for an appointment.

People with diabetes, chronic kidney disease, or a body mass index of 30 or higher were also eligible, Governor Spencer Cox announced Thursday. He asked Utahns to wait until Monday to book their appointments so venues could prepare for the hustle and bustle of new business – but some agencies didn’t wait and started making appointments on Thursday.

So where do you get an appointment? The Utah Department of Health works through regional and regional health departments, healthcare companies and pharmacy chains to distribute the vaccine as widely and as quickly as possible. Cox has said his policy is to “embrace the chaos,” and encouraged residents to return regularly if they can’t get a seat right away. The sites saw demand increase sharply on Monday.

In all cases, the first rule is: first register online for an appointment.
