Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip not behind Archie skin ‘worries’

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip weren’t the members of the royal family who expressed concern about how dark Archie’s skin might be, according to a royal expert.

Meghan Markle revealed in her tell-all Oprah interview that while she was still pregnant with Archie, she was told that her son would not have a royal title and that they would not be entitled to any security.

There were also “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he is born,” she said.

The Duchess of Sussex would not reveal who voiced those concerns – but a royal guard told The Sun that the Queen and her husband were not part of it.

“I should be clear here, I’ve been told it’s not the Queen, and it’s not the Duke of Edinburgh,” Chris Ship, ITV News’ Royal Editor, told the publication.

“So then there are only two family members left,” he added. “The two people you are left with are his father Prince Charles or his brother Prince William or their wives.”

However, the royal expert said the queen has not gone unscathed from the bombshell interview.

“That’s pretty serious,” he continued. They protected the queen during this time. But they also criticize the institution of which she is the head, and therefore you criticize his grandmother the queen. “

When asked about the conversation later in the interview, Harry declined to explain much more.

“I’m never going to share that conversation, but it was awkward at the time, I was a little shocked,” he said.

But he did say that discussion about “what will the kids look like?” came “at the very beginning”.

“That was right in the beginning, when she wasn’t going to get security, when members of my family suggested she continue acting because there wasn’t enough money to pay for her, all these things,” he said.

“Like, there were some clear signs before we even got married that this was going to be very difficult.”

Archie, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, was born in May 2019.

The couple are expecting a second child and revealed that it will be a girl on Sunday night.
