Cleveland sends Jose Ramírez and Franmil Reyes home for violation of the Covid-19 protocol

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona said José Ramírez and Franmil Reyes have broken COVID-19 protocols and will disappear from the team.

Both players were immediately sent home and Cleveland is awaiting notice from MLB when they can return.

Reyes cut his hair and then the two players ate together in a restaurant. Both violations of MLB health and safety protocols established prior to spring training.

Reyes also violated COVID-19 protocols before last year’s short season when he attended an event on July 4 and was seen on social media without wearing a mask.

Ramirez finished second in the MVP voting last year after hitting .292 with 17 homers and 46 RBIs in 58 games.

Reyes hit .275 with nine home runs and 34 RBIs in 59 games.
