ST. LOUIS (AP) – There were more than 7,700 doses of vaccine left after massive vaccination events in Missouri last week. That feeds frustrations that rural counties have not been able to find enough people to use them, while city dwellers are desperate for a dose.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that data from the Missouri Department of Public Safety shows that the remaining doses were usually transferred to another local supplier or retained by the health department for later use. In the course of those clinics, 152 doses were discarded.
Missouri plans to transition massive vaccination teams to more large-scale events in the Kansas City and St. Louis areas.
