The Specialized Body for Fuel Control and Merchandise Trade (CECCOM) yesterday seized an illegal alcohol tanker that would be sold in the local market, at the expense of tax collection and legal certainty in the industry.
The seizure was carried out after the new Santo Domingo, DR last Tuesday night by CECCOM members, who acted in light of suspicious activity while patrolling Highway 6 de Noviembre, on the outskirts of the city.
Two vehicles were seized: a white Freightliner truck with license plate L212423 and its tail with a capacity of 10,000 liters, and a white Hijet minivan, with license plate I051718, carrying twelve bottles and two jugs of illegal alcohol.
Brigadier General César Miranda, Director General of CECCOM, said that two people had been arrested and that the vehicles seized carried out the transfer of the liquid in the middle of a public road.
“The detainees will be treated in accordance with the current legal framework and we will act with determination and determination so that they are punished accordingly,” said Miranda. The Minister of Industry, Trade and Mipymes (MICM), Víctor -Ito- Bisonó, indicated that this is the first blow to this crime after Decree 55-21 was issued enabling CECCOM to fight against the illegal controlled products including alcohols and their derivatives.
