After a year and a half, the Miss Universe pageant returns on May 16 with a live broadcast from Florida.
The 69th edition of Miss Universe will take place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood.
The last competition was in December 2019 and the winner, South African Zozibini Tunzi, has worn the crown longer than any predecessor.
Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, said in a press release Wednesday that they had spent months planning a safe match amid the pandemic. It will follow guidelines similar to those passed in November for Miss USA in Memphis.
They are not yet clear whether they will admit a private audience.
The Miss Universe pageant is broadcast in more than 160 territories and countries around the world. In the United States, it can be seen in Spanish on Telemundo and in English on a channel to be announced soon.
