Villanova senior point guard Collin Gillespie left the No. 10 Wildcats ’72 -60 victory over Creighton on Wednesday night with what coach Jay Wright called a “serious” knee injury.
Gillespie landed awkwardly during an action with 6 minutes, 38 seconds remaining in the first half and immediately grabbed his left leg. He tried to run it down the baseline after playing, but then he left the couch and had to be helped to the locker room.
The school announced halfway through that Gillespie was out of the game with a left knee injury.

Wright later said at his post-game press conference that Gillespie will undergo an MRI on Thursday morning.

Junior wing Brandon Slater started the second half in place of Gillespie, finishing with 11 points when the Wildcats took the regular season title in the Big East.
