Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s government kicked off unprecedented fiscal stimulus last year when the economy was hammered by the coronavirus pandemic and suffered the sharpest contraction in more than 300 years.
The UK budget for 2021 comes as the nationwide Covid-19 restrictions will be phased out over the coming months. Analysts anticipate potential tax hikes and a nod to future tightening that will appear in the latest budget announcement on Wednesday.
