The opinions of the employees of Entrepreneur they are personal.
One of the aspects that we urgently need to address is the integration of the physical, mental and emotional health agenda in teams led or composed of womenespecially in this new environment, as according to the OAS’s Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM), due to the impact of the pandemic, one in four women in senior positions is considering reducing, leaving or leaving their work responsibilities the workforce altogether.
It would have a major impact on both companies and own companies. Keep in mind that, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), if Latin American countries have a female participation in the labor force, GDP per capita could rise to 10%
Strengthening a work culture of greater well-being should have a direct impact on job retention of teams composed and led by women. Just look at the International Labor Organization (ILO) survey of 13,000 companies from 70 countries published in May 2019: 60% of participating companies reported increasing their profitability by up to 20% thanks to the work of women in leadership functions, in addition to improving key indicators such as creativity, performance and attracting new talent, which are fundamental elements to drive and channel innovation.
The international Women’s Day It enables strategic areas of companies, such as Human Resources or the general directorates themselves, to reflect and establish high-impact actions from a work culture of greater well-being.
In the case of Gympass, this year has given us several lessons and tools to strengthen precisely this culture:
Well-being must be on the agenda
Companies must recognize the challenge they face. In a survey of nearly 400 women worldwide, by the Deloitte consultancy, 82% presented the consequences of a change in routine: impact on physical well-being and the inability to balance work and personal obligations. In the same study, 45% of women believe companies should promote mental health programs, while 44% believe physical health plans are necessary.
The approach should be increasingly comprehensive, be it hybrid schemes, in-person activities and others online. Betting on just one type of activity in one location will be less and less effective, even on aspects the company may want to promote, such as emotional salary. The trend we are seeing is that companies interested in this wellness agenda should prioritize flexibility, because just as work can be done remotely, so are the options in healthcare: with solutions that address the needs of people in their daily life.
The home office, remote team integration, adaptation to technology platforms, hybrid models are just some of the things that are already part of our daily life. Another example of the need for quick adjustment and the need for the “This is how we’ve always done it.”
Innovation and growth is the focus that more and more companies are adopting today. Changes in structures, leadership, and management practices to which we have been accustomed have given way to better talent management, which in turn implies that aspects not previously considered, such as the importance of emotions or stress reduction, must be rethought by means of varying applications to having an exercise plan with personal trainers to breathing exercises.
Continuously monitor the working environment
Human Resources plays a key role in the new work environment of companies for parameter parameters, processes and initiatives that lead to healthier, more egalitarian, respectful and harmonious work environments. Fortunately, they have several allies and technologies that can be chosen to strengthen a better environment, such as increasing the frequency of sending wrist surveys, a questionnaire to employees to obtain information about health and wellness. Fast, simple and reliable, it provides data on aspects such as the work environment and communication, enabling a positive and continuous transformation of the environment.
