The Department of Defense is gearing up to release a sweltering report detailing Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) is described as a top White House physician during the Obama and Trump administrations.
According to the Pentagon Inspector General’s report, pre-obtained by CNN, Jackson made “ sexual and derogatory ” comments about a female colleague, drank alcohol on presidential trips in violation of protocol, and slept on strength. on strength. medication that made colleagues worried about the care he could provide.
The report is the result of an investigation that started in 2018.
It claims Jackson was in a fiery temper, with interviewees telling the Pentagon watchdog that he would be heard “ yelling, yelling, cursing or belittling subordinates. ”
He was also seen on presidential trips, including one to Manila in 2014, where he apparently got drunk and made inappropriate comments about a female colleague who worked under him. Similar comments would have been heard on other trips as well.
At least six interviewees told the inspector general that Jackson was also taking Ambien on long flights while on duty, causing concern that he might not be able to provide care because of the drug’s ability to induce drowsiness and reduce alertness.
Neither the Pentagon’s inspector general nor Jackson immediately responded to requests for comment from The Hill.
In a statement to CNN, Jackson shifted the report as an attempt by the Democrats to tarnish him. Jackson retired from the Navy in 2019 and won his seat at the Texas House last year.
“I am proud of the work environment that I have nurtured under three different presidents from each party; I take my professional responsibility with regard to prescription drugs seriously; and I flatly reject any claim that I drank alcohol while I was working, Jackson said.
“My entire professional life has been defined by duty and service. I have served my country with honor in the United States Navy, served patients who trusted me in their care, served three presidents in the White House, and now I serve the people of Texas.” 13th district in Congress. I have never and will never behave in a way that undermines the sincerity with which I take my oath to my country or my constituents, ”he added.
