Comic-Con becomes virtual again. It was no surprise when Comic-Con International decided to move San Diego Comic-Con 2020 to a virtual setting, canceling all in-person festivities. As people in the United States and other parts of the world begin to get vaccinated against COVID-19, there is still a lot of work to be done before big rallies like Comic-Con can be held again. It was announced Monday afternoon that San Diego Comic-Con 2021 would be held virtually, canceling the personal convention for the second year in a row.
The announcement was made Monday afternoon via Comic-Con’s official Twitter account. The virtual event that will take place this year will likely have a similar set-up to last year’s Comic-Con at Home event, although this edition will be slightly shorter.

Comic-Con at Home 2021 will run for just three days, from July 23 to July 25. This may be disappointing to some, but it offers the chance that every festival day will be packed with exciting panels and presentations.
“While we complain about the postponement of personal Comic-Con, our commitment to this community of fans and our celebration of comics and the related popular arts continues to exist as an important part of who we are,” Comic’s statement said. -Con. “As the timing and size of our larger event played a big part in our decision to postpone, we believe launching a smaller in-person event at a later date may be a safer alternative.”
As revealed in the statement, there are plans for a personal Comic-Con at the end of the year. The plan is for a three-day event to take place in San Diego in November, with the entire convention returning to normal capacity by 2022. At this point, details about the November event have yet to be revealed.
