“It’s hard to explain how moving today was when I turned on the TV and saw all the red shirts,” Woods wrote on Sunday. “For every golfer and every fan, you really help me get through this difficult time.”
Golfers on the Gainbridge LPGA on Sundays, including Annika Sorenstam wore red and black in support of Woods.
PGA Tour Communications tweeted a photo Sunday from the maintenance staff at the Puerto Rico Open in red and black to honor Woods.
And golfer Bryson DeChambeau tweeted a photo of a golf ball with the name “Tiger” and a red line on it.
“We’re all pulling for you @tigerwoods,” DeChambeau wrote. “A mentor, idol and role model for my career, there is no one who could come out stronger here. We are glad you are here. See you soon.”
Woods sustained serious leg injuries last week in a one-car auto accident near Los Angeles, where his SUV crossed a median strip, drove two lanes down the road, then hit a tree and fell into the undergrowth on the driver’s side landed.
After initial treatment at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Woods was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he received follow-up procedures, a tweet posted Friday said to Woods’ Twitter account. “The procedures were successful, and he is recovering now and in good spirits.”
Woods’ injuries included open fractures to his shin and fibula that required a rod insertion, and additional injuries to the bones of the foot and ankle that were stabilized with screws and pins.
