MADRID— Former Wimbledon champion Conchita Martínez tested positive for coronavirus.
In a post on social media on Saturday, Martinez said he is being quarantined at a hospital in Doha after testing positive on arrival in Qatar.
Martínez is the coach of former world champion Garbiñe Muguruza, who starts playing at the Qatar Open on Monday.
The 48-year-old Spaniard reported having “mild symptoms” of covid-19.
“I am hopeful that I will soon be able to continue this tour of the Middle East,” wrote Martinez. “At the moment I will develop my functions via videoconference and permanently connected to Garbiñe”.
Martinez won Wimbledon in 1994 and helped Spain win five Fed Cups in the 1990s. She was selected to the Tennis Hall of Fame last year.
