Boeing 777 makes emergency landing in Moscow

A Rossiya Airlines Boeing 777 cargo plane made an emergency landing at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport on Friday after a problem was discovered with the plane’s engine control sensor, Reuters said.

Rossiya Airlines flight 4520 was traveling from Hong Kong to Madrid early Friday morning when the crew requested land in Moscow, the news outlet noted.

The plane, The New York Times reported, was a cargo flight, carrying 25 people and 36 tons of cargo.

“The landing took place normally,” Rossiya said in a statement to Reuters. The airlines also stated that the flight would continue to Madrid later Friday morning.

This is the second recent case of problems with a Boeing 777.

Over the weekend, a Boeing 777 left debris in the Denver area after an engine failure. Apart from that, a Boeing 747 cargo plane had an engine problem last week while flying over the Netherlands.

The plane that crash-landed in Russia had a General Electric engine, while the other two planes had engines developed by Pratt & Whitney.
