JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KY3) – Missouri Governor Mike Parson has announced that the state will activate Phase 1B – Level 3 of its COVID-19 vaccine plan in mid-March.
Missourians in Phase 1B – Tier 3 are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, March 15.
Those eligible for the new stage include:
- K-12 educators and school personnel;
- childcare providers;
- supermarket employees;
- energy, food, farm workers;
- critical infrastructure workers;
- others “who keep the essential functions of society going”
Those in the following professions are eligible as of March 15:
- Education
- Day-care
- Communication infrastructure
- Checkers Sector
- Energy sector
- Food & Agriculture sector 1
- Government
- Information Technology
- Nuclear reactor sector
- Transport systems
- Water and wastewater systems
Nearly 550,000 more Missourians will be eligible for the vaccine when the new stage is activated. Missourians in Phase 1A and Phase 1B – Tier 1 and Tier 2 also remain eligible.

“Missouri has had a vaccination plan since October, and that hasn’t changed. We have been very disciplined in following our plan, ”said Governor Parson during a newsletter Thursday. “With vaccine offerings increasing steadily, we believe we are in a good position to activate Phase 1B – Level 3, making approximately 550,000 more Missouri residents eligible for vaccine.”

The announcement of the new phase comes after Missouri’s seven-day PCR positivity rate has dropped to 6.1 percent, and the antigen (rapid) test rate has dropped to 5.2 percent. According to CDC data, Missouri is now the second lowest in the country for average daily COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents in the past 7 days.
