Subnautica: Below Zero, the standalone expansion of Unknown World’s brilliant underwater survival adventure from 2018, is finally getting its full version 1.0 release on May 14.

Below Zero will be in early access for nearly two and a half years by the time May arrives (its predecessor, on the other hand, was slightly longer in early access development, at just over three years), and the full launch will see the game take the plunge. makes to Nintendo Switch, in addition to Xbox, PlayStation and PC.

If you haven’t kept up, Subnautica: Below Zero takes place after the first game and, cast in a new role, challenges players to survive on a previously invisible part of ocean planet 4546B – through trusted systems of building, crafting and exploration.

This new location is significantly colder and cooler than Subnautica players have encountered before, and brings with it its own unique biomes, creatures and other surprises. There’s a look at Below Zero’s action in the trailer above, but be warned it’s inundated with spoilers.

Unknown Worlds has confirmed that Subnautica: Below Zero’s console editions will be available both digitally and physically when they launch alongside the PC version on May 14.
