Netflix’s next big action movie is almost here: Army of the dead From director Zack Snyder sees a team of mercenaries making their way to Las Vegas to commit a massive robbery. The capture takes place after a zombie apocalypse ravages the city, so instead of the usual Vegas barriers of casino security and mob bosses, the crew will have to fight through hordes of the hungry undead to get the score of your life.
The first trailer for Army of the dead doesn’t show off much, but we do know that Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Universe) will lead the show. Snyder is no stranger to big action and zombie movies, of course, especially after he released the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead (as well as his long list of superhero blockbusters like Man of Steel Guards, and Justice League

Army of the deadhowever, is a particularly notable film for Snyder, as it’s only the director’s second fully original story – and his first in more than a decade since 2011 Sucker Punch was released.
Netflix is also investing heavily Army of the dead starts a new franchise for the streaming site: In addition to Snyder’s feature film, the company also produces Army of the Dead: The Prequel, a German-American co-production directed and starring Matthias Schweighöfer (who will also appear in Snyder’s movie.) An anime-style TV series is also planned, Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, in which different characters from the main film will repeat their roles.
Army of the dead debuts on May 21 on Netflix.
