Stevie Wonder tells Oprah he is leaving the US for Ghana – permanently

Stevie Wonder has plans to move on.

The 70-year-old music icon recently opened up to an interview with Oprah Winfrey, where he revealed he plans to move permanently to Ghana, a country in West Africa.

“I want to see this country smile again and I want to see it before I leave … to move to Ghana,” the singer said in a clip published by Punch Newspapers. “Because I’m going to do that.”

When Winfrey asked if he plans to move permanently, Wonder replied, “I am.”

“I don’t want my kids’ kids to have to say, ‘Oh, like me, please, please respect me, please know I’m important, please appreciate me,’ he explained.

In 1994, the “Superstition” singer told a Washington meeting of the International Association of African American Music that he had come to enjoy his visit to Ghana.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, he said he feels “there is more of a sense of community”.

Born in Michigan in 1950, Wonder grew up to be a Motown music star and pioneer despite being blind.

For his work, he has earned a total of 25 Grammys and 74 nominations. He also won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for the song ‘I Just Called to Say I Love You’, which was used in the movie ‘The Woman in Red’.

The star suffered a health problem just over a year ago, telling viewers at a press conference last year that he was “blessed with a new kidney” in December 2019.

“Since I was released from the hospital, the nurses have made sure that I have taken my medications on time and I will do it for as long as I need to, even if it is for the rest of my life. Feel great. great, ”he said at the October conference, according to The Associated Press. “I feel like I’m about 40 now and I thank everyone for the prayers and love.”

He then assured his fans that he would let them know if there was anything to be concerned about, and urged them not to listen to any rumors.
