Connecticut high school athlete Alanna Smith told Fox News Wednesday that she was “disappointed” after Biden’s Justice Department withdrew support for her lawsuit to prevent transgender athletes from participating in girls’ sports.
The Justice Department had backed Smith’s case during the Trump administration last year.
Smith, who is fighting the rule after putting a transgender runner in a measurement event, told Fox News Primetime that she and other female athletes have “ worked really hard to get our stories out there to make people realize that fairness should be. restored in our sport and in all other women’s sports ”.
Smith hopes people “will realize that many biological females have failed to achieve encounters that really matter … and the transgender athletes have taken places on the stage that belong to biological females.

Smith’s attorney, Christiana Holcomb of Alliance Defending Freedom, vowed that the case will go ahead, calling the DOJ’s decision “politically motivated.”

“More worryingly, this effort has ensured that women’s legal protections are not just isolated from what we see in Connecticut,” she said.
