A painting of a Parisian street scene, made by Vincent van Gogh, was shown in public for the first time. On Wednesday, the British auction company Sotheby announced that the painting from 1887 will be presented for the first time in Hong Kong, Amsterdam and Paris.
The Van Gogh painting will go up for auction in March and will generate an estimated USD 7 million. The auction company said the painting was previously privately owned and never seen in person.

“The painting is a true rediscovery, which means that although it has been published in extensive catalogs, it has never appeared on the market since it was bought by the family that owns it,” said Sotheby auctioneer Claudia Mercier. “So it has been more than a century since this painting was in private hands.”

Some of Van Gogh’s paintings are still privately owned, making this exhibition a historical event.
