Just weeks after the vote in support of former President Donald Trump’s second impeachment, U.S. Representative Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., Is already facing a pro-Trump GOP challenger.
His opponent? Catalina Lauf, a 27-year-old who previously served in the Trump administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce. She launched her bid on Tuesday to expel the 42-year-old sitting in Illinois’ 16th Congressional District.
“I never thought I would prime a fellow Republican, but is Congressman Kinzinger really a Republican anymore? He isn’t and we have the proof,” Lauf said in a video campaign announcement.

Lauf attacks Kinzinger as an “established Republican with weak knees” who “cares more about his next MSNBC appearance than the voters who chose him.”
She suggests that the incumbent congressman does not support the “America First” movement, noting his “one in three votes” in Congress who sided with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.
“Rather than being in our fight, Adam betrayed his constituents for a life in the swamp of DC,” said Lauf.
She then criticizes the “Fake Republican” for supporting the “fake impeachment hoax for a president who has left office.”
He said impeachment was “ necessary to save America. ” What? ”Lauf responds.” You know what I think it takes to save America, Adam? Setting terms for people like you and the rest of your friends. Six terms in Congress is enough. “
Lauf accuses Kinzinger of being “a further fan[ning] flames “through” div[ing] our party. “
Among the candidate’s priorities she plans to address on Capitol Hill include “social media censorship,” “election integrity,” “freedom of expression,” “gun rights,” “illegal immigration,” and “running the economy.”
Lauf previously ran for Congress in Illinois’ 14th Congressional District in 2020, but was defeated in a busy GOP primaries by Senator Jim Oberweis, who voted against the incumbent Democratic Rep. In the general election. Lauren Underwood fell short by less than 2 percent.

Lauf prides herself as the daughter of a Guatemalan immigrant mother, who came to the US legally, and a father of a small business. She also called herself the ‘anti-AOC’.
Both she and her sister Madeline were featured prominently in a video during last year’s Republican National Convention in support of President Trump.
