Watch the new video ‘Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night’ by Iggy Pop

Iggy Pop has released a new video for his interpretation of Dylan Thomas’ poem, “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night.” It’s on Pop’s 2019 album, Free

In the video directed by Simon Taylor, Pop delivers a dramatic reading of the classic poem, supported by the soundscape of guitarist Noveller and trumpeter Leron Thomas. Pop takes a steadfast gaze straight into the camera, with the close-up style enhancing its deep timbre and expressiveness.

In December Pop released “Dirty Little Virus”, a song about Covid-19. He also recorded a French version of Elvis Costello’s “No Flag” from Costello’s recent album, Hey Clockface

The two friends entered Rolling stoneMusicians on Musicians release, in which they shared early memories of their long friendship and career. “When I heard your music, I felt like you were the only thing coming from the UK that didn’t go with the me-a-monster-with-a-guitar-riff thing,” Pop told Costello. The whole guitar riff went up and down. You were that or, to her no insult, you were Lulu. “
