Liga MX: Chivas vs Pumas is played behind closed doors at Akron

After there was talk of a possible reopening of the Akron Stadium for the duel of the Chivas Rayadas from Guadalajara for the Cougars from the UNAM this day 8 of Closure 2021, the game is played behind closed doors.

Through its social networks, The Sacred Herd reported that the game against the National University Club will be played without fans in the stands, after the Jalisco State Board of Health decided it this way.

“After working with the Mesa de Salud for several days, we made the decision NOT to open the doors of @EstadioAkron this Sunday vs. Cougars. The health of our fans remains a priority and we are waiting for the right time for #VolverteAVer “

With the decline in the number of Covd-19 cases in the state and the new measures imposed by the Jalisco government, it looked like the Guadalajara teams could reopen their stadiums on dates 8 and 9, but Chivas will have to continue to expect.

According to information from reporter Natalia León, of FOX Sports, Chivas allegedly tried to reach Akron’s opening by 40%, a situation for which the Jalisco government rejected the request.

“State government sources indicate @Chivas was targeting about 40% capacity to make the opening profitable, but this amount could not be approved.”
