Why is everyone talking about Eiza González’s new ‘romance’?

Mexico City.- There are no good people, there are prey and predators, lambs and lions … with this sentence begins ‘Careless, I take care of you’, a dark comedy directed by J Blakeson starring Rosamund Pike, Peter Dinklage and Eiza González.

This tape arrived on Netflix a few days ago, but had already caught the public’s attention for a few months when it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Rosamund Pike was placed as one of the nominees for Best Actress at the 2021 Golden Globes.

What is it about Neglect that I take care of you?

Our protagonist is Marla Grayson (Pike), a brilliant woman who has found a way to enrich herself completely legally at the expense of others.

And it is that Marla is committed to being a ‘tutor’ to the elderly who apparently ‘have no one to take care of them’.

Once the judge grants them custody of these elders, Marla commits to selling her house, her cars, and her belongings and taking them away from her family forever.

One day Marla and her friend Fran (Eiza González) set their sights on Jennifer Peterson (Dianne West), a millionaire retired woman with no living family members. Overall a gem.

What they don’t know is that Jennifer is actually the mother of Roman Lunyov (Dinklage), a dangerous leader of the Russian Mafia who wants to do ANYTHING to save his mother.

Good or bad?

The feeling that I Care A Lot is leaving you is difficult to describe. Besides, we don’t know if we would describe it as a comedy.

When all the characters share something, it’s just that confidence to know that they can get away with it and thereby ruin the lives of others … because they can.

Rosamund Pike’s performance as Louise is extraordinary. Her determination goes from the admirable to the chilling, to the point where she is actually feared more than the Russian crowd itself.

I Care A Lot is an interesting, almost cruel proposal that unconsciously confronts us with the idea of how good people we are.

Because when this world is divided between those who are snatching and those who are being snatched, the only certainty is that no one wants to lose.

Don’t worry I’ll take care of you, it has an 81% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and you can watch it on Netflix.
