Apart from 2020’s Celebrate good daysHas Mila Kunis taken a little breather from acting in recent years, giving Netflix even better luck tracking her down for their upcoming film adaptation of author Jessica Knoll’s Luckiest girl alive, according to VarietyKnoll’s novel, her debut, became a New York one Times bestseller upon release in 2015. Author will adapt screenplay as well as executive production, with Mike Barker as director and Kunis’ Orchard Fam Productions to also produce.

Luckiest girl alive follows lead actor Ani Fanelli (Kunis), who from the outside seems to have everything: glamorous magazine job, perfect fiancé, fantastic New York apartment, in this case Mila Kunis. But, as with most mystery novels, Ani survived a series of unspoken tragedies in her past that, in order to overcome them, basically turned into a completely different person. Only when a true crime documentary investigates “a devastating incident from her teenage years,” while a student at the prestigious Bradley School, is Ani forced to reckon with the truth beneath her “carefully crafted life.” All of that doesn’t make her exactly lucky, but on the other hand, the ‘live’ part is probably by far the most important part in this genre.
