Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be sold in Japan following the announcement of Pyra and Mythra’s Smash

Could Xenoblade Chronicles 2 finally get the hype it deserves? With just over 2 million sales worldwide since its release in 2017 – take Breath of the Wild’s 23 million sales as a comparison – it’s still the best-selling Xenoblade game at around half a million.

After the announcement that Pyra and Mythra will be added to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster, people are rushing to see the girls (or, um, girl) in action. As a result, copies of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are out of stock on Amazon Japan, and Amazon’s US version is also running out.

You could say this has always been Nintendo’s plan – Smash Bros. has the power to revive a flag series or draw attention to an underrated series. But maybe Nintendo is just paving the way for an all-new Xenoblade game – or a Switch port of Xenoblade Chronicles X. We can hope, right?
