“Is there some jojo siwa dababy beef I don’t know?” asked another.
A third shared: “Just when you thought life couldn’t get any stranger, Dababy condemns Jojo Siwa.”
As dizzy as the lyrics may be, some fans were trying to guess why the rapper would drop such a line from left field about an entertainer more than 10 years younger than him.
“I feel like he just said Jojo siwa since it rhymed,” one person on YouTube mused.
Another added: “He didn’t throw a shadow at Jojo … it clearly shows he used her last name as in ‘see why’ instead of ‘Siwa’.”
Some felt DaBaby used the teen star’s name to start a controversy. “The Jojo line did exactly what DaBaby and other people involved in his camp wanted them to do,” one person wrote. “Create controversy and generate opinions.” Another on Twitter agreed, commenting on DaBaby’s post, “He threw in that yo-yo rule because he knew it would get people talking. Just smart business moves.”
If the line’s intention was indeed to notice the rapper and his freestyle, then it worked. DaBaby became a trending topic on Twitter and Google this weekend.
Regardless of his reasoning for naming Siwa in his freestyle, not all of his followers are impressed.
“Other rappers fight shooters and killers while DaBaby fights Jojo Siwa,” one person wrote on YouTube.
“That yo-yo siwa line was terribly disgusting,” said another.
Billboard has contacted DaBaby and Siwa for comment.
