Gina Carano speaks out about her resignation from the Disney + series “The Mandalorian” over comments she made on social media.
The actress played Cara Dune for two seasons on the hit series set in the “Star Wars” universe, but faced calls for Lucasfilm and Disney to fire her for her conservative social media presence. She sat down with The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro, with whom she now has a movie deal, to discuss this situation on The Ben Shapiro Show.
“I’ve been through so much, and I’ve clearly seen so much of the bullying that is taking place now, and I’ve seen it before,” she explains in a preview ahead of the Sunday interview (via Deadline). “I’m not the only one who has ever been bullied by this company, and I know it so deeply.”
Carano says she could share a story that “would change things in the media,” but doesn’t because it would imply a friend.
“Everyone is afraid of losing their job,” she said.

The former MMA fighter claims her former employers were looking for a reason to fire her from the show, comparing the situation to boxing headhunting.

“You know how boxers sometimes headhunt and forget to go for the body? I feel like Disney or Lucasfilm or whoever it is, just certain people at that company … I feel like I’m being hunted (. ..) and you can feel it, ”she explains.
The last straw for Lucasfilm and Disney came when Carano was criticized for a social media post comparing the current political divide to what happened in Nazi Germany and conservatives to the Jewish people. She had previously been criticized for other comments about the coronavirus, the use of gender nouns, and election fraud.
In a conversation with Shapiro, she reiterated an earlier allegation that she had heard about her dismissal along with everyone else through “The Mandalorian” on social media. However, she claims that an email accidentally sent to her put the writing on the wall before she was fired.
“They accidentally emailed me, which was very enlightening, so I knew. I knew they were paying attention. I know there were a few people who came out ahead of me, but I know they didn’t win in the end. ,” she said.
She further notes that she believes the company is favored with enforcing stars’ social media based on where they fall on the political spectrum, arguing that there is a double standard.

“They’ve been all over me and they’ve looked at me like a hawk, and I look at people in the same production and they can say anything they want, and that’s where I had a problem.” I had a problem because I didn’t agree with the story, ‘she explained.
Carano concludes her take on the matter in the preview clip by doubling down on her claim that Disney “ bullied ” her to silence.
“I was prepared to be released anytime because I’ve seen this happen to so many people. I’ve seen the looks on their faces. I’ve seen the bullying taking place, and so when this started, they raise their guns you, and you know it’s just a matter of time I’ve seen it happen to so many people, and I thought to myself (…) ‘you’re coming to get me, I know you are.’ They make it very clear because of their employees who came for me, and so I thought, “I’m going to swing and stay true to myself.” ”

While there are still calls for Disney to reverse its decision and bring Carano back as Cara Dune in Season 3 of “The Mandalorian,” the actress has already moved on to a new project in collaboration with Shapiro and The Daily Wire.

“The Daily Wire is helping to make one of my dreams – to develop and produce my own film – come true,” the star said in a previous statement to the outlet. “I cried out and my prayer was answered. I am sending a direct message of hope to all who live in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian crowd. I have only just begun to use my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t allow it.

“We couldn’t be more excited to team up with Gina Carano, an incredible talent dumped by Disney and Lucasfilm for insulting the authoritarian Hollywood Left. Here’s what Daily Wire can do: not just provide an alternative for consumers, but also for creators who refuse to bow to the crowd, ‘Shapiro added.
