Saturday Night Live opened with a talk show skit in which Britney Spears tried to apologize to Ted Cruz, Andrew Cuomo and Gina Carano, each of whom came out of a scandal-ridden week.
“You all know me from my cheerful Instagram videos and the word ‘conservatorship’. Basically I started this show ‘Oops, You Did It Again’ so people can apologize for things they did wrong, ”said Chloe Fineman’s Spears. “Because after the documentary ‘Free Britney’ came out, I get hundreds of excuses every day.”
The singer then welcomed this week’s trio of newsmakers into her talk show, starting with Cruz (Aidy Bryant, who reprized the role from last week’s cold opening). The Texas senator walked onto the podium with a Pina Colada and luggage fresh from a short trip to Cancun, where he escaped the devastating winter conditions afflicting his constituents.
“So Ted, Texas is going through a massive crisis, it seems,” Spears said. And you literally left it and flew to Cancun for a family [vacation]
“And now I’m in a little bit of hot water, which apparently nobody in Texas has,” said Bryant’s Cruz, who then apologized to Texans. “I really regret my actions in recent days … especially flying with United.”
The next to apologize was New York Governor Cuomo (Pete Davidson), who is currently involved in an investigation into the state’s death toll in nursing homes.
“Some of the people who died in the nursing homes were counted not as deaths in nursing homes, but as hospital deaths,” said the governor. “What actually happens at Disney World, okay? People die, and they move bodies. They say, “Oh, I think Brenda died in the parking lot, not on the teacups.” So we just did the Disney thing. “
After a short pause to read fan mail questions – “Are you okay?” to which she replied with a subliminal #FreeBritney – the last guest, now former Mandalorian actress Carano (Cicely Strong) joined Spears but declined to apologize.
‘I’m here for the opposite. I haven’t done anything wrong. No one can even explain what I did wrong. Explain! ”Said the actress.
“Okay, you said on Instagram that conservatives are just as bad as people who live in Nazi Germany,” Spears said.
“Congratulations, you explained it,” said Strong’s Carano. “Look, I never would have made that Nazi comparison if I had known everyone would become such a Nazi about it.”
