New Jersey expects snow again.
The National Weather Service forecasts snow in the northwestern part of the state Monday morning, making it the fourth straight week that some of the Garden State will see snow. With just one week left in the month, it is already one of the snowiest February ever.
This week’s storm appears to be getting much milder than the previous events, one of which was a monstrous 30-incher for some cities. As of Sunday morning, the NWS forecasts between 2 and 5 inches in the Belvidere area and less than an inch in the Morristown area. New Brunswick, Toms River and Vineland are all not expected to see accumulation.
Any snow will turn to rain by noon, the NWS said.
There are currently no weather reports in effect from Sunday morning.
Monday’s snow showers will give way to unusually high temperatures on Wednesday, with sun and high temperatures closer to what we usually see in late March, the NWS said.
As of Saturday, the 29.1 inches of snow Newark has received will be the sixth snowest February ever, while New Brunswick’s 26.5 is the fifth snowiest February.
The persistent winter weather has caused headaches all over the state, with public works crews working shifts day and night to keep up with the storms and try to get ahead of the next.
The constant snow has also hampered vaccination efforts, with sites having to close early or reschedule full days of appointments during severe weather. And bad weather across the country has caused delays in vaccine shipping, delaying further appointments.
