Florida women dressed up as ‘grandmas’ to get the COVID vaccine

This ‘gran’ plan didn’t get very far …

Two Florida women dressed up as “grandmas” in an attempt to get vaccinated against COVID-19, health officials said Thursday.

Their crazy performance included “the hats, the gloves, the glasses – the whole thing,” said Dr. Raul Pino, the director of the Florida Department of Health in Orange County.

Employees at the Orange County Convention Center’s vaccine center noted that the women “looked strange” and stopped them before they could take their photos, Pino said, according to WKMG-TV.

There was also a problem with the IDs and driver’s licenses they provided, Pino noted.

The duo came for their second dose of the vaccine.

Pino said he didn’t know how to get their first shot, and it’s unclear if they used the same trick.

“I don’t know how they first escaped,” he said.

The incident was turned over to local authorities, who warned the women of violating the law.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said one of the women was 44 years old and the other 34 years old, WWL-TV reported.

In Florida, only adults 65 and older, health professionals, assisted living, and staff are eligible for the vaccine.

Pino said the number of people trying to forge their identities to get the photo is probably “higher than we expect.”

As a result, security at the vaccination site has been stepped up, he said.
