Dressed in gray jeans and a white sweatshirt, Querétaro de México’s offensive flyer, Joshua Canales, landed at San Pedro Sula airport on Thursday to join the Honduras Under-23 National Team.
Fabián Coito’s team list for the fifth microcycle and friendlies against Costa Rica
Canales was called up by coach Fabián Coito for the friendlies on microcycle number 5, which starts today February 18 and ends on February 26 and includes two friendlies against Costa Rica.
“Happy to return to the country. I hadn’t been here for a year and a half. I spoke to Coito before, I made it clear it was not a final decision, when I felt ready I spoke and told him that I wanted to play with Honduras, ” he told the media upon arrival.
Joshua had expressed his wish to wear the Costa Rican team’s shirt, which was interested in taking it on. But the conversation with Coito changed his perspective. He assures that it was a decision made as a family.
“After receiving the call from both teams, I think I made the best decision,” he added.
The player immediately moved to Siguatepeque to join the Bicolor work at the Hotel de la H. He promised dedication and sacrifice.
The Honduran squad is gearing up for the Concacaf Pre-Olympic to be played in Guadalajara from March 18-30, which will deliver two direct tickets to the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Honduras is in Group B along with Canada, El Salvador and Haiti. Group A consists of; Mexico, the United States, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.
“I’ll get to work and as long as I have what needs to be done. I’ll do my best and find that classification,” he concluded.
