In the video for TLC, the couple said their sons are both ‘very excited’ to have a new sibling.
Spurgeon and Henry are very excited. They understand, ”she said. “We have little pregnancy apps on my phone that we look at and they get updates on the progress and growth of the baby.”
Ivy, who turns two in May, doesn’t quite get it yet, and Jessa thinks it will be a ‘shock’ when the baby arrives.

The couple plans to keep the gender of their baby a secret, just like with previous pregnancies

In some ways, because this is the fourth baby, I think we feel a bit more prepared. At least we know what to expect, ”Jessa said. ‘But in other ways I feel like you never feel ready for the next transition in life’
‘We are very excited to see Ivy step into her big sister role. I think she will be great at that, ”she said.
Although they are now experts in baby care, Jessa admitted that every new one is a surprise.

They do not say whether they are expecting a boy or a girl.
“It’s our tradition to find out the gender, and Ben and I keep that secret, surprise the family when the baby is born,” Jessa said.
“I think we’ll probably do that again this time. We’re not sure yet, though, as Sprugeon and Henry were interested in knowing, so that makes us doubt.
“But if we tell them, it won’t be a surprise anymore, because they will definitely blurt it out.”

Jessa also gave an update on Ivy’s progress, saying, ‘Ivy talks, says new words all the time. She loves to sing, and she sings quite long songs. Except that she always surprises us with her vocabulary. It is very wide. ‘
Jessa has traditionally had home births with her children, although she had to be rushed to hospital afterward due to complications.
In 2019, she gave birth in her living room while TLC’s cameras rolled, working on the family’s brown suede couch.
“While waiting for a pregnancy to meet your baby, it seems like it will take forever for the baby to get here,” Jessa said at the time. “So that the first moments immediately after the birth of the baby are the sweetest moments of your life.”
But shortly after Ivy Jane was born, Jessa’s midwife called 911, and an ambulance came to collect the still bleeding new mother and take it to the hospital.
It wasn’t the first time Jessa had suffered from excessive bleeding after birth: When she gave birth to her first child, Spurgeon, she lost enough blood for her mother to call the emergency number, and Jessa had to get a blood transfusion in the hospital.
This time it was the midwife who called the emergency center, and soon paramedics arrived to load her into an ambulance.

There has been a bit of a pause in Duggar’s pregnancy announcement lately.
Currently, the only other member of the family who has confirmed she is pregnant is Joe’s wife Kendra, 22, who will give birth to her third this month.
Meanwhile, Jessa’s sister Jinger, 26, welcomed a daughter, Evangeline Jo, on November 22. It was the second child for Jinger and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo.
When Jinger announced her pregnancy last year, she also brought up a miscarriage she had suffered.
‘We went in and they tried to check a heartbeat, but they couldn’t find a heartbeat. And they did an ultrasound and said we lost the baby, ”she said later.
“It was very difficult for us,” agreed Jeremy. ‘Just the timing of it, it was sudden. And we just announced it to our family, and it hit us hard. ‘

While Jessa will have the second most children in the Duggar family, she is still two behind her older brother, sex plague Josh.
The 32-year-old and his wife Anna have six children.
Jill, 29, and husband Derick Dillard have two children, while Joy Anna, 23, and husband Austin Forsyth also have two.
John David, 31, and his wife Abbie have one, as do Josiah, 24, and his wife Lauren.
If Duggar’s previous timelines are any indication, 18-year-old brother Justin will be a dad in no time after announcing his engagement to Claire Spivey in the fall.
